The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has stated that helping more low- and moderate-income Americans become homeowners is a national priority.  Click here to go to the HUD website for news and announcements about HUD homeownership programs.

HUD launches Education and Outreach Program to create more barrier-free housing.  The HUD initiative will allow homebuilders, developers, architects and designers to have access to the latest training and technical guidance on how to comply with accessible design and construction requirements of the Fair Housing Act. The newly developed website contains information about educational and legal materials, best practices, a training and conference calendar, frequently asked questions, and links to related sites.  HUD February 21, 2023 Press Release.

Rental Housing Guide

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission, with the assistance and contribution of several local agencies, has released a Rental Housing Guide, which covers a variety of topics dealing with rental housing.  The guide includes topics such as where and how to look for housing, security deposits, who is responsible for repairs, renters insurance, fair housing laws, and helpful numbers and/or websites for further assistance.  To download a free copy of the Rental Housing Guide, please click here.
