George D. Williams, Sr., serves as
Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Policy, Legislative
Initiatives and Outreach, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development, Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. The
Office is responsible for the formulation and communication of all
Departmental fair housing and civil rights policy to the public, the
press, Congress and executive branch agencies. His Office has the
major responsibility for oversight of the implementation of the
HUD’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) Initiative.
Prior to his appointment George was
the President and CEO of Diversity Dynamics LLC. Diversity Dynamics
provided consultation and training on Leadership Development, Fair
Housing and Equal Opportunity, Cross Cultural Conflict Management
and Diversity Policy Development. George was a consultant, trainer
and subcontracting partner with the international consulting firms,
BearingPoint, and Deloitte Consulting, providing training and
technical assistance on the federal Fair Housing Act enforcement,
Disability Rights Laws, and Design and Construction Requirements of
the Fair Housing Act. George was a Senior Instructor at the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development’s National Fair Housing
Training Academy (NFHTA) at The Graduate School USA. He taught the
first ever course for the Academy on the campus of Howard University
in August of 2004.
George has provided expert fair housing consultation and court
testimony in Fair Housing and Civil Rights related investigations
and litigation. He completed undergraduate work at Wittenberg
University in Springfield, Ohio and graduate level studies and
professional certification work at The Ohio State University,
Columbus, Ohio, The University of Colorado at Denver and Portland
State University (School of Urban & Public Affairs). George holds
the degree of Doctor of Public Administration (DPA).

BACKGROUND:
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission is proud
to be celebrating Fair Housing Month by hosting a Fair Housing
Luncheon on Wednesday, April 20, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at
the Carrick House. For over 50 years, the Commission has combated
discrimination in housing and has served hundreds, possibly
thousands of Fayette County residents.
We are asking businesses to become event sponsors, purchase tables
and/or tickets. There are several ways for you to show your
