Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice is a coalition of peacemaking groups and individuals, incorporated in 1984. We are a unique association of groups which addresses the whole fabric of peace and justice issues. Some groups are associated with religious denominations - others are secular. Some concentrate on peace with the individual, family, and community - others emphasize issues of international peace. But all of its member individuals and groups believe that peace and justice can best be advanced by working together. The Humanitarium: Center for Culture & Diversity is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) educational organization dedicated to eliminating bias and increasing diversity awareness through arts and education within the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky. Lexington Commission on Race Relations (LCRR) is dedicated to the proposition that a strong community aims to assist all of its residents in meeting their basic needs and to encourage healthy relations between all segments of the community.

The purposes of LCRR are to develop strong and healthy interracial relations in Lexington, and assure that all residents are treated justly irrespective of their race. The Commission provides city leadership and a visible forum, clearinghouse and network to enable the community in the promotion of diversity. With the involvement of our community businesses, educational institutions, government agencies, religious institutions, and other community organizations, the Commission is committed to improving the quality of race relations in Lexington. The Commission seeks information on issues, offers support to those who are doing constructive work on behalf of race relations and racial justice, and expresses concerns about and opposition to undesirable practices. The Commission encourages programs that are designed to educate the community on race relations and racial justice.

The Lexington Network is an organization of individuals proactively engaged in raising awareness and understanding of Lexington’s diverse community. Through dialogue and commitment to service and educational projects we pledge to maintain an active presence on:

issues that divide us; 
issues that concern us; and
issues that face us

The Lexington Network is sponsoring a film series and forum exploring the myths and realities of “Race” in America. Details on the “Race: The Power of Illusion” series are included in Highlighted Events & Activities.

National Conference for Community and Justice – Bluegrass Region fights bias, bigotry and racism in all its forms and promotes respect and understanding among all people. The mission includes any type of racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, xenophobia, and discrimination based on physical and mental disabilities. They achieve this work targeting leaders through the Leadership Initiative on Erasing Racism, Workplace Training and Consultation, Trainer Institute, and the Lexington Youth Leadership Academy (including Anytown Kentucky and the People to People conference).  For more information on the Leadership Initiative on Erasing Racism and People to People conference, please view the Highlighted Events and Activities.

The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), founded in 1927 as The National Conference for Christians and Jews, is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in America. NCCJ promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution and education. The mission encompasses all people. The organization finds all forms of oppression, prejudice and discrimination to be wrong. Always. No form of discrimination is acceptable. Therefore, the mission includes any type of racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, xenophobia, and discrimination based on physical and mental disabilities.
