Race Relations Advocates Plan Activities for
“Race Equality Week”
To
reaffirm its commitment to racial equality, race relations advocates in
Lexington will hold a news conference Monday,
September 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Government Center, 200 East
Main Street in Lexington to announce activities for “Race Equality
Week”.
Cities
and towns throughout the United States have planned events for the week of
September 29 – October 4 to renew their commitment to promoting racial
equality. The National League of
Cities (NLC) is coordinating this event in a nationwide campaign to promote
racial equality.
Lexington
Mayor Teresa Ann Isaac said, “This is an opportunity for Lexington to stand up
and be counted in an ongoing effort to make sure our community fosters racial
equality and harmony.”
Joining
Isaac to announce the activities for “Race Equality Week” will be
representatives from the Kentucky League of Cities, Kentucky Commission on Human
Rights, Lexington Commission on Race Relations, Lexington Human Rights
Commission, and the National Conference of Community and Justice.
Interview
opportunities on the issue of race relations in Lexington and details of the
planned activities for “Race Equality Week” will be available to the media
during and after the news conference.
