Commemorating 50 Years of Civil Rights Enforcement

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission was the host agency for the 2004 Quad State Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Conference.  The Conference began the afternoon of Wednesday, March 3, 2023 with a community activity.  Training sessions began the morning of Thursday, March 4, 2004 and concluded at noon on Friday, March 5, 2004.  Participants from Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee came together to discuss housing issues such as predatory lending, housing equality, affordable housing, etc.  Nationally recognized speakers made presentations on these and other topics including issues relating to employment, social/human services, law enforcement and community relations.  Click here to view photos of the conference.

The highlight of the conference was held on Thursday, March 4, 2023 when we hosted a Civil Rights Luncheon commemorating the 50 years since the landmark case of Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas.  Rev. C. B. Akins was the Keynote Speaker.  Over 250 people, including conference attendees, attended the Civil Rights Luncheon.
