The Lexington-Fayette Urban
County Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for the first annual
Police Community Relations Award to be presented at the Eighth Annual Fair
Housing Luncheon on Tuesday, April 9, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington,
KY. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 1, 2002.
The award is an expression of
the community’s appreciation of police officers who make outstanding
contributions to the improvement of police community relations. Nominees must
work in Fayette County and can be from any law enforcement agency (i.e. sheriff,
state, local and university).
The Commission encourages
citizens, community organizations, neighborhoods, schools, groups and
individuals to nominate officers for this inaugural award. The award honors
officers who are dedicated to enriching community understanding of the joint
role of the police and the public in promoting public safety and fighting crime.
Additional characteristics to be considered are extraordinary efforts in the
area of crime prevention and unique involvement in aiding neighborhoods with
special issues.
