Outstanding Achievement in
Fair Housing Award

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission is sponsoring the Outstanding Achievement in Fair Housing Award to recognize individuals and/or organizations that have shown exemplary performances in fair housing practices. These individuals and organizations have profoundly impacted the way that fair housing is conducted over the course of their entire lifetime or who have made significant contributions that support the spirit and letter of Fair Housing Laws which they have demonstrated through words, deeds, business policies, or other means.

Eligibility

Nominees that qualify for the Outstanding Achievement in Fair Housing Award may fulfill any or all of the following criteria:

The individual and/or organization MUST currently reside in the Lexington-Fayette County area.

The individual and/or organization is actively involved or employed in the housing industry including residential sales, rental, condominium, cooperative, mortgage lending, residential insuring, residential appraising, or community development and planning.
The individual and/or organization advance the cause of fair housing through their actions and performance in the housing industry.
The individual has supported fair housing litigation such as providing invaluable testimony as a witness for plaintiffs in housing discrimination cases.
The individual’s place of business or firm’s employment practices reflects the diversity of Lexington-Fayette County.
The individual and their place of business or firm have exemplified a diverse clientele with their record of services with residential transactions, and the participants and location of those transactions.
The individual has shown leadership in fair housing by bringing positive public attention and support to the issue of fair and equal housing opportunity.

Nominations

The Commission will present awards in three (3) categories to recognize individuals, organizations and businesses in the housing industry for their work to promote diversity and promote fair housing.  The Commission will present awards in the following categories Business (includes builders, developers, construction companies, advertising, real estate sales, property casualty insurance sales, rental housing industry (includes landlords, property managers, leasing agents, property management companies, rental developers, multi-family housing providers, banks mortgage companies, lenders and title companies and trade associations; Nonprofits (includes community-based agencies that support fair housing), and Individuals who have profoundly impacted the way that fair housing is conducted over the course of their entire lifetime or who have made significant contributions that support the spirit and letter of Fair Housing Laws which they have demonstrated through words, deeds, business policies, or other means.
